Sela Carsen
In addition to writing, Sela Carsen is the wife of a Darn Near Perfect Husband and mom to Two Great Kids. They live in the seventh circle of hell, aka Midwestern Suburbia. It wasn’t always like that, though. As the daughter of an oil company engineer and then married to an Air Force officer (ah, retirement!), she has lived all over the world and at last count, has moved at least 32 times. When her youngest child was about a year and half old, Sela was standing in the shower when a scene popped into her head. (Why does that always happen when you’re in the shower and you can’t get a pen and paper?) Anyway, she got the soap out of her eyes, dried off and headed straight for the computer where she wrote it all down. And boy, did it stink. Whew! She’d been reading romance novels for years so she figured she should be able to write one, right? It took about twenty false starts and a work she now calls The-Regency-That-Wouldn’t-Die before she finally got disgusted with herself and started writing this funny little scene in a Louisiana cemetery. That little scene became Not Quite Dead and it’s the first manuscript she ever finished. After much angst and rewriting, she eventually sold it to Samhain Publishing, where it was released in August, 2006. Since then, she’s written short stories and novellas for other collections and has learned that 1) she can’t plot at all and 2) she works best under nearly impossible deadlines. Sela would love to hear from you – especially if you have something nice to say!
